SuperGlu Interview // Entrevista

We interviewed SuperGlu, a brand new band from Manningtree. During the interview, we talked about their future plans, their debut single "Diving Bell" and so much more. Read the full interview below. 

Entrevistámos os SuperGlu, uma banda nova de Manningtree. Durante a entrevista, falámos sobre planos para o futuro, o seu single de estreia "Diving Bell" e muito mais. Leiam a entrevista completa em baixo. 


Watch & Listen: How did you decide to start the band?
SuperGlu: The band started with Brother Ben and Other Ben, with Sister Lynch soon being dragged from Brighton. After I convinced them all to agree that the moon landing was in-fact a government conspiracy, I felt comfortable to join strictly as a session musician. 


Watch & Listen: Como é que decidiram começar a banda? 
SuperGlu: A banda começou com o irmão Ben e o outro Ben, com a irmã Lynch a ser arrastada de Brighton em breve. Depois de os convencer a todos que a aterragem na lua foi de facto uma conspiração do governo, eu senti-me confortável a fazer parte como um músico em sessão ? 


W&L: Why did you choose the name SuperGlu?
SuperGlu: Someone mentioned it and it just stuck. 


W&L: Porque é que escolheram o nome SuperGlu? 
SuperGlu: Alguém mencionou-o e apenas ficou.
 

W&L: What are your plans for this year? SuperGlu: We’re planning a carol service in the riverside village of Rowhedge called ‘Hymn and Her’, that’ll be delightful. We’re also hoping to headline the Stout Stage at Manningtree Beer Festival this summer. Apart from that - playing, writing, recording and releasing is what our plans are.
 
W&L: Quais são os vossos planos para este ano? 
SuperGlu: Estamos a planear um serviço de hino de Natal na margem do rio da aldeia de Rowhedge chamado "Hymn and Her", isso será um prazer. Nós também estamos à espera de sermos cabeças de cartaz do Stout Stage no Manningtree Beer Festival este verão. Tirando isso - tocar, escrever, gravar e lançar são os nossos planos.



W&L: Can you talk us about your debut single “Diving Bell”? And how are people reacting to it?
SuperGlu: It’s a pop song. But you should think of it as a cloud; one person could see some garden shears whilst the other could see the hook of Abu Hamza. All I really know is that it’s a pop song.  


W&L: Podem falar-nos do vosso álbum de estreia "Diving Bell"? E como é que as pessoas estão a reagir? 
SuperGlu: É uma música pop. Mas devias pensar nela como uma nuvem; uma pessoa pode ver um jardim cortado enquanto que a outra pode ver o gancho de Abu Hamza. Tudo o que eu sei é que é uma canção pop.
 

W&L: How do you describe your sound? SuperGlu: Bubble Gum Backflip. 

W&L: Como descrevem o vosso som? 
SuperGlu: Um salto de pastilha elástica.  



W&L: What are your biggest musical inspirations?
SuperGlu: Gregorian chant.  

W&L: Quais são as vossas maiores inspirações musicais? 
SuperGlu: Canto gregoriano.


W&L: If you could be a superhero, which one would you choose?
SuperGlu: Most definitely Hancock because I’d get to be Will Smith.  

W&L: Se pudesses ser um super-herói, qual é que escolherias? 
SuperGlu: Definitivamente o Hancock porque poderia ser o Will Smith.


W&L: Is there a venue or a music festival where you would like to play? SuperGlu: I would have loved to have performed at Stonehenge Free Festival in the 70’s. Latitude would be rad though. 


W&L: Há alguma local ou festival de música onde gostariam de tocar?
SuperGlu: Eu teria adorado ter tocado no Stonehenge Free Festival nos anos 70. Embora o Latitude também seria fantástico.

 

W&L: If you had the chance to make a song with anyone you like, who would it be? SuperGlu: For me, David Bazan or Mitski, but I don’t know where the others stand.  



W&L: Se tivessem a oportunidade de fazer uma música com uma pessoa que gostam, quem seria? 
SuperGlu: Para mim, David Bazan ou Mitski, mas não sei a opinião dos outros. 


W&L: Lastly, what should we really know more about SuperGlu? Tells a fact about yourselves.
SuperGlu: Other Ben once ate a bar of soap in the middle of an exam because he realized he was answering completely the wrong question. He threw up, was sent home and was given his predicted grade. Legends. 

W&L: Finalmente, o que é que deveríamos saber mais sobre os SuperGlu? Digam-nos um facto sobre vocês. 
SuperGlu: Uma vez o outro Ben comeu uma barra de sabão no meio de um exame porque se apercebeu que estava a responder completamente à pergunta mal. Ele vomitou, foi mandado para casa e foi-lhe dada uma suposta nota.
